The Menghini Winery in Julian, Ca

My favorite whites were their 2018 Sauvignon Blanc and their desert wine 2009 Julian Gold

Nestled in the charming city of Julian, I stumbled upon Menghini Winery, the oldest vineyard in town. All because I decided to take a side street away from the main drag where tourists typically venture. I was delighted in how cozy this winery is! Have you ever had a desire to throw on some overalls and stomp on grapes? Well, look no further than Menghini! The owner, whose ancestors are immigrants of Italian decent, started making Lilly wine in the midwest when he was a young boy. His passion for wine making led him to California to start his winery. Menghini Winery is located three miles north of downtown Julian, California, in the foothills of Volcan Mountain.  It is surrounded by apple orchards, a six acre vineyard and produces 4,000 cases of wine annually. Some wines offered are: Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon. I tend to favor whites and my two favorites were the 2018 Sauvignon Blanc and the 2009 desert wine 2009 Julian Gold! He and his wife have had this Vineyard for over 40 years. I got the pleasure of sitting down with them while enjoying my tasting with a friend. Julian is known for its apples but you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try their wines. They even created an Apple Wine. Salute!
