Since going to the grocery store and cooking meals from home during quarantine has become a daily routine, here are some great tips on the best ways to find what your looking for and more. Each grocery store has certain days of shipments. Reach out to your local store and find out when they get their dairy (eggs, etc), produce, protein, paper products and nonperishables. Most cashiers are knowledgeable and more than happy to inform you. In the state of California, for example, Ralphs' delivers their dairy products on Thursday and Sunday nights so the best time to get eggs would be Friday and Monday mornings.
If you are a lover of avocado toast, try having some fun with your ingredients and adding smoked salmon, sprouts and capers! It takes seconds to make and worth every bite!
Ready-to-go cooked rotisserie chickens from the grocery stores are pretty delicious and super savory and they seem to have plenty on hand starting at 10 AM. I love using the chicken from the bone for soups like butternut squash, tomato bisque and chicken noodle soup. I use a can of chicken broth, chopped celery, carrots, pasta, and strip the rotisserie chicken. So delish!
Frozen food has really come along way so don't be afraid to venture down that aisle. I've found some regular items I like having on hand when I am not in the mood to cook -- great stuff like Maryland Crab Cakes. Also, Bertolli, famous for their olive oil, is now offering delicious gnocchi pesto, ricotta, and lemon ravioli, just to name a few.
