Visiting Newport

I am so lucky to live in the coolest city with so much at my fingertips to do. I wanted to share what this city has to offer incase you aren't local and choose to visit!

Newport Beach has a special place called Balboa Island. This charming Island has an nostalgic mini amusement park with ocean views and attractions like bumper cars and carnival games. It's a quick car ride via the ferry or may I suggest renting a beach bike from Sports Rents. They are the best sport rental shop in town with the most inventory and the shop is on the Newport side of the Island so an easy access. I recommend doing some paddle boarding/kayaking and renting from them, as well. If you haven't tried this, the calm bay waters is a perfect place to start.

Sports Rents is a family owned business and the owner is a kind man with a love for sports himself. He has an Irish accent and a positive personality. His love for the island and his passion for sports comes across right away when you meet him. He has a very unique story to tell. He left a career in aerospace 10 years ago to start a business around activities he enjoys - paddle boarding, kayaking, biking and golfing. He decided to open up a rental concession on Balboa Island offering bicycles, kayaks, paddle boards and golf equipment rentals and tours. As time went on he has added 18 locations working with several hotels to accommodate the travelers staying in town. He comes to the hotels and does tutorials for the guests and brings his rentals with him. Talk about front door service!

After biking around the island you must stop into California Ice Cream for their famous frozen banana with your choice of dipping. I chose the "heath bar" dip. I have tried the sunset bike ride, the early morning paddle boarding and have yet to try the kayaking! I found his prices reasonable and his demeanor pleasantly upbeat.

I also recommend renting a duffy or a medium to larger boat for cruises along the harbor and bay. Its such a cozy town and the beautiful homes along the waterline ads to the beauty of this Island.

I hope you enjoyed my blog today and if you ever come visit my town let me know!

Seas the Day!
