Making Spider Cookies and Witches Fingers in my Checkered Pumpkin Apron

Updated: Oct 30, 2023

Spider cookies and witches fingers are this years Halloween treats onboard! 💅 🕷️ 🎃 Did you know I get bigger tips when I make these for my pax? ;) Links to the recipes along with where to buy my checkered pumpkin apron is list below!! :)

How to Make Spider Cookies for Halloween:

  • Prepare Oven – Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  • Mix dry ingredients together – In a mixing bowl combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, cornstarch and salt.

  • Form dough into balls – Form the dough into round balls with a cookie scoop.  Gently roll the dough in the remaining sugar and place them on an un-greased baking sheet. Use a fork to flatten the dough balls and create a criss-cross shape into each cookie.

  • Bake Cookies – Bake for 10-12 minutes until the cookies are lightly golden brown. Allow the cookies to cool for 5 minutes and then start decorating.

  • Melt Chocolate – Melt the chocolate wafers in the microwave and transfer to a piping bag or small ziplock bag for piping.  Allow this mixture to cool for 5 minutes for easier decorating.

  • Top the cookie with the peanut butter cup – Unwrap the miniature Reeses peanut butter chocolate candy. Then gently press them upside down in the center of the cookies.  You can use the melted chocolate to adhere the peanut butter cups to the cookies if they do not stay.

  • Begin decorating the cookie – Pipe four chocolate lines on both side of the Reeses peanut butter cups. This makes the spider’s legs.

  • Add the Candy Eyeballs – Place chocolate on the front of the peanut butter cup. Then adhere 2 of the candy eyes for the spider eyes.

  • Cool, Serve and Enjoy – Allow the chocolate to cool complete. Place on a wire rack to cool and then serve! You can use a cooling rack if you have one.

Tips for the Cutest Spider Cookies:

  • Cookie Scoop – Use a cookie scoop to make the dough into balls.

  • Make a divot – Make a divot so you can place your peanut butter cup in the middle of the cookie. Use the back of the spoon to press down on the cookie.

  • Piping Bag – Use piping bag to make designs on the cookie.

  • Peanut Butter Cups – We like to freeze the peanut butter cups. This makes it so they are easy to manage when placing on the cookie.

  • Refrigerate the dough – To help with scooping the dough, we recommend refrigerating the dough at least an hour.

  • Do not overbake – Make sure to not overbake the cookies. They will continue to cook on the baking sheet when you remove it from the oven.

  • Premade Cookies – For a fast and easy way to prepare these spider cookies, use already made cookies. You can buy store bought cookies or the refrigerator cookie dough works great too. I used Pillsbury Peanut Butter Cookie dough mix in my video ;)

  • Use a ziploc bag for piping. If you do not have a piping bag, use a ziplock bag instead. Just cut off the corner and pipe the spider legs.

Witches Fingers Charcuterie Board Idea:

  • String cheese

  • Fleshy Thin sliced Italian Prosciutto Ham

  • Black Olives

  • Cream cheese

  • Wrap the prosciutto around the string cheese.

  • Slice olives into finger nail shapes.

  • Place cream cheese on olive to secure it to the finger.
